How the Grow a Garden 2 Calculator Works
This calculator starts with information the game lets you observe: the price paid for seeds and the sale value of the produce in your inventory. Gross revenue is the observed value multiplied by produce collected and the number of harvest cycles. Expected loss reduces the collected produce before revenue is calculated. Net profit is gross revenue minus the original seed cost.
Gross revenue = sell value × produce per harvest × harvest cycles × crops kept
Seed cost = one planting for repeat crops, or one planting per cycle for single-harvest crops
Net profit = gross revenue − total seed cost
ROI = net profit ÷ seed cost × 100
Mutations, crop size and other value changes belong in the observed sell value. This avoids applying a second bonus to produce that the game has already priced. It also makes the same tool useful after balance updates: copy the new value from the game and calculate again.
What to Enter
Seeds per planting
Count the seeds in one planted group. Single-harvest routes buy that group again for every cycle; repeat crops keep the original planting.
Produce per harvest
Use the number you normally collect from the planted group during one complete harvest.
Observed sell value
Read the value of one matching produce item in-game. Use a mutated item only when planning that same mutation.
Expected crop loss
Add a practical loss allowance when theft, missed collection or an exposed layout may reduce the crop you sell.
For a single-harvest crop, one cycle is usually the cleanest starting point. For a repeat-harvest crop, try two, five and ten cycles to see how continued collection spreads the original seed cost. Keep the expected number realistic; a route that requires more playtime than you can provide is not a better route simply because its long-term total is larger.
How to Use the Result
Start with net profit, not gross revenue. A premium crop may produce a large sale while still tying up too much of your balance. ROI shows how efficiently the starting seed budget is being used. Break-even harvests answer a different question: how long the crop must remain productive before the initial purchase is recovered.
Protect cash flow
Prefer routes that repay the seed cost quickly and leave enough balance for the next planting.
Compare full routes
Test repeat harvests against a premium single harvest while including realistic crop losses.
Price opportunity
Use the observed value of valuable or mutated produce instead of assuming every harvest receives the same bonus.
A negative result is useful information. Reduce the seed quantity, choose a stronger observed sell value, plan more repeat harvests, or compare another crop. Before making a large purchase, pair this result with the night defense layout and selling guide so the plan includes risk and timing.
Example Farm Comparisons
Imagine ten planted seeds produce ten sale items per cycle. Enter the value displayed for one ordinary item, calculate one cycle, and record net profit and ROI. Next, keep the seed quantity unchanged and enter the value of a produce item affected by the mutation you actually obtained. The difference now represents the two real inventory outcomes rather than an assumed multiplier.
For repeat-harvest crops, run the same plan at several harvest counts. If the crop breaks even on the third harvest but you normally leave after two, it is not yet suitable for that session. If defense is unreliable, add a loss percentage and check whether the route remains positive. This turns the calculator into a decision tool instead of a best-case payout display.
What the Calculator Does Not Guess
The calculator does not invent a hidden weight curve, mutation stacking rule, weather percentage, growth time or event probability. Public guides currently present conflicting versions of several of those systems. It also cannot predict shop rotation, theft, missed harvests or future balance changes. Those uncertainties belong in the observed sell value, harvest count and loss allowance you enter.
